The Brave and The Bold Preview: Cave Carson

This intrepid underground explorer is a Forgotten Hero no longer!

World famous spelunker and geologist Cave Carson pursued his lifelong dream of becoming an explorer while working to develop the “Mighty Mole” digging machine. Cave Carson experienced many bizarre adventures under the earth with the machine and a group of like-minded adventurers. Eventually, he began working aboveground with some costumed heroes in a loose grouping known as the “Forgotten Heroes.” He continues to police the sub-levels of the earth and on several occasions has alerted Wonder Woman and Superman to various underworld menaces he has encountered that were too much for him to handle alone.

HeroClix Format Update: Mega-Mega Crossover

Mega-Mega-Crossover Format

Thanks to the positive response we've received about our Alter Egos and "including more figures from your collection" in your games, we're proud to unveil the new format that all HeroClix games will be required to use from now on (both casually and in tournaments). A picture is worth a thousand words, so here's an illustration of one player all set up to play.

That's right, in every game you'll get to use so much more of your collection. And if you don't have a big enough collection to fill up your half of the map, you are legally obligated to go buy some more HeroClix as soon as possible!

Can you imagine? Superman with 7 Batmans with 19 Wonder Womans with a World's Finest with 161 Street Thugs vs. 192 Checkmate guys? The possibilities for team-building are truly endless!

So far our office champion in this new format is the person who's made his opponent concede the fastest, since no game has actually finished. But that just means that you have to play more HeroClix, and that's win-win for everybody!

Mega-Mega Crossover Rules:

Maps: All HeroClix games must be played on new or revised maps. New and revised maps have the purple starting area extended to encompass one full half of the map for each player. Other terrain types which fall within the purple boundary also retain their existing terrain type, for example Hindering Terrain inside the purple boundary is still Hindering Terrain.
Figure Setup: A player is required to fill every non-Blocking Terrain space inside their starting area with Clix figures. Peanut and 2x2 base figures fill 2 and 4 spaces, respectively. You may not place a peanut or 2x2 base so that part of the figure in on elevated terrain and part is not. Come on, you've played Tetris, you can do this.
Legal Figures: Mega-Mega Crossover replaces any previous Modern or Golden Age rules. Players may only uses figures with the Colossal damage symbol if both players agree beforehand (WizKids will always agree to allow Colossals - we have infinite Fing Fang Fooms - so please don't ask us over and over again when you play us).
Point Totals: When you're playing with this many figs, who cares about point totals?
Feats, Objects, Battlefield Conditions and Event Dials: Please. Who are we kidding here?
Theme Teams: If you can field a Theme Team and meet all the other rules, go to town.
First Turn Immunity: If you don't hit someone on your first turn, you're doing something wrong.
Win Condition: Have the last figure in play, or be the last person to walk away in frustration.

How are we going to enforce all casual games being played in this format? Well, why don't you try playing in a different format. No, go ahead. Just ignore those sounds outside your window. That scream? Probably the wind.

After many false revelations and years of confusion, Power Girl has finally learned her true origins: she is the Supergirl of Earth Two, a survivor of the first Crisis. Blessed with all the strengths and some of the limitations of Kryptonians from that universe, Power Girl’s independence and impulsiveness led to problems in earlier years. Recently, she has comfortably settled into the Justice Society, becoming its first chairwoman. After disappearing for a time to help Supergirl in the city of Kandor, she has now re-adopted her civilian identity of Karen Starr and is trying to restart her software company.

UPDATE: 03/15/10

HeroClix fans are among the most comics-savvy people on the planet, and they know that among the key abilities all Kryptonians share are the ability to Lift And Toss Very Heavy Things and the ability to Hit Other Things With Lots Of Oomph. So when our fans saw the preview of Power Girl I posted on Friday, they realized something was missing - Super Strength. Good catch HeroClix fans!

Power Girl originally was playtested with a trait which reads "Power Girl can use Super Strength" - but that line was unintentionally edited out when we created the print master for the art team to lay out the cards. Thanks to the miracle of Print and Play, you can play her the way the design team intended. Power's corrected cards are below, and are officially considered legal for all HeroClix play.

Though they eventually went their separate ways again, both men were forever changed by what they had seen on their long journey together.

After Dr. Harleen Quinzel fled Arkham Asylum, she was found by Poison Ivy, who recognized her as a former doctor there and was intent on killing her. But Harley’s sad tale of her unrequited love for the Joker moved Poison Ivy, and she instead injected Harley with her Toxin Immunity Serum, so her presence wouldn’t poison Harley.Still best friends, and now roommates, Ivy tries to keep Harley out of trouble and away from the Joker, but is always ready to come to her rescue no matter what scrape she’s gotten herself into.

A dwarf genius inventor of the highest order, Mikron O’Jeneus (also known by his villain name Gizmo) can turn ordinary household objects into weapons worthy of any super-villain within minutes. Bored with his technological success and wealth, he was not afraid to be involved with the criminal element and developed a jetpack for himself. Seeing an ad in a criminal newsletter, he became a charter member of the Fearsome Five. Fighting against the Teen Titans and Outsiders again and again, Mikron O’Jeneus was believed killed by Dr. Sivana, but the truth of that remains to be seen.

February 12, 2010 (Hillside, NJ) – WizKids/NECA, the leader in collectible miniature gaming today announced the Watchmen HeroClix Collector’s Boxed Set and Dr. Manhattan Colossal Figure for the HeroClix game, through a license agreement with Warner Bros.
