First Look at Beginner Box Heroes Set




June 21, 2011 (REDMOND, Wash.) – Paizo Publishing and WizKids Games today revealed product images and additional pricing and release details about the highly anticipated Pathfinder Beginner Box Heroes prepainted fantasy miniature set scheduled for an October 2011 release.

The Pathfinder Beginner Box Heroes set includes four highly detailed prepainted plastic miniatures for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. The four heroes included in the set also appear as the four pregenerated characters in Paizo’s Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Beginner Box, also an October 2011 release, making this an ideal supplement for new gamers.

The Pathfinder Beginner Box Heroes fantasy miniatures set has an MSRP of $12.99. All figures are on 1-inch round bases and are fully compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and other major fantasy RPG game systems.

WizKids is pleased to announce that we will be working together with HCRealms on a very exciting project.   This is an exclusive opportunity we’re offering you, our player community, to participate in a very exciting Beta test of the upcoming HeroClix Online game platform.

Before we get started, let’s talk about what some of you are going to experience as a tester.  HeroClix Online (HCO) is what we call a “transliteration” - a literal translation of the tabletop game.  Every effort has been made to make sure the two platforms operate in parallel.  Of course, there are differences, such as -

1:  The Maps are rendered in a beautiful 3-D space

2:  Rules are enforced by the computer – you can play poorly but you can’t play incorrectly (except for some bugs right now)

3:  Sanctioned (prize bearing tournaments) have a chess clock feature

4:  No more tackle boxes - Some will love it, some will hate it!

5:  Sound effects!

Before you get started, realize that you are about to play HeroClix an entirely new way.  For starters, there is a “camera” to help you manage your view of the board.  We think the camera works great but it did take some time to get .  Give it a chance, and let us know if we can improve table top awareness.  We'll be reading the HCO message boards for feedback.

Chat isn’t as easy as it is at the store, you’ll have make an effort to chat via game chat or IM.  VoIP is on a future feature list but that won’t be available at launch.

The system is still buggy, please be patient and report bugs as you encounter them.   Keep in mind that some elements are still pending approval and may change based on licensor comments.   There are tools built into the client to assist with providing feedback and bug reporting.

Stick with in and I am confident you’ll find it rewarding.  Consider the convenience of being able to play a quick game 24/7 with players from around the world.

We’re providing access to the HCO Developer forums, a discussion board where you will have direct access to the development team, share work arounds, and speak with other players to organize events and test sessions.

What to focus on

As you begin your HeroClix Online experience, there are four areas we would like all of our Beta Testers to concentrate on:

  • Figures - Are they accurate in terms of stats and stat cards

  • PAC & Special Powers - Do they work as you would expect them to work?

  • User Interface - Is it intuitive?  (once you "get accustomed to it")

  • Non-Game Systems - Collection Manager, Trading, Store, Chat, Auction House and Match Making system


If you focus on these areas, HeroClix Online will be the better experience for all involved and will be an excellent platform through which HeroClix players worldwide can both enjoy and improve upon their game.

And remember, HeroClix Online is not intended as a replacement for the tabletop experience, rather, it is a platform that is designed to make HeroClix even more convenient for players around the world to share their love of the game on a platform that fits into their busy lives.

Think about it; HeroClix games available 24/7, full rules enforcement, a virtual judge “at your table”, and you can play with folks all over the world!

MARVEL HEROCLIX: GIANT-SIZE X-MEN


February 22, 2011 (HILLSIDE, NJ) — WizKids Inc. announces the manufacturer sell-out of their most recent set, Marvel HeroClix®: Giant-Size X-Men (GSX).  WizKids’ entire inventory of Marvel Giant-Size X-Men, releasing March 16th, 2011 has been completely sold to distributors worldwide.

The X-Men burst onto the scene in this latest HeroClix expansion dedicated to Marvel’s “First Family” of mutants.   Marvel HeroClix: Giant-Size X-Men features over 60 new collectible figures including characters from the X-Men’s long and impressive history.  Each brick of GSX features one super booster containing one of six giant sized figures.

Giant Sized X-Men – All I can say is WOW.  Pre-sales for the GSX set are trending really high and it is moving quickly (on our side).  Make sure your retailers are in contact with their distributors and ordering appropriately.  I expect to make an announcement shortly.

New Clix Base – I've taken the NEW prototype base with me on the road and i am happy to say it has received great reviews.  We're in the process of seeing how we can incorporate the new base into the product line.  The base cost a bit more than the "H" base or "Cup" base so I can say with certainty that the Oreo base won't make it into GSX.  Best guess is that it will hit the HeroClix minis line at the end of 2011 (no promises on this one).  For those of you that have the sample base, feel free to share pictures, thoughts and reviews.

Product Replacement – The last of the replacement figures are landing in the warehouse.  I will be posting the replacement policy in the coming weeks.

New Games/Releases - We've announce a bunch of new stuff and there is still a few more to go.  In the coming weeks we'll talk about our summer Marvel and DC sets, reveal more info on our new games and provide some more  detail on a couple in store programs I touched upon in my ICV2 interview.

Green Lantern Movie Figures - Green Lantern figs are on their way and will be distributed in a couple of flavors.  The hobby will get a GL movie 6 pack with maps, dice, and figures (think Fast Forces).  We're also putting out a gravity feed unit with 24 single figure boosters in broader markets.   We'll add these to the preview schedule once GSX has released.  This is a micro set in that there are <15 figures in the set.   BTW - All new sculpts on these guys!

They must conjure the mysterious powers of Quiddity, cast powerful spells, and summon their creatures to battle if they hope to overcome rivals and earn their rightful place as the Champion!

The game features 130 custom molded dice, 53 creature and spell cards and everything needed to play for 2 to 4 players.

“Quarriors has the frenetic excitement of a dice battle game,” said co-designer Eric Lang “with an added ‘deckbuilding’ twist: players customize their dice pools during the game using resources generated by their rolls.”

“It takes the best of deckbuilding games without the tedium of shuffling” said Mike Elliott the other co-designer of the game, “take a typical deckbuilding game, add the speed and fun of dice and in 60 minutes you’re on your second or third game trying unique strategies against your opponents.”

WIZKIDS TAKES OVER MIDDLE EARTH


WITH NEW “THE LORD OF THE RINGS” GAME RELEASES


(January 18, 2011-Hillside NJ) – Wizkids announced today the addition of “The Lord of the Rings” property to their 2011 HeroClix release schedule through a licensing agreement logowith Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The first products of the new “The Lord of the Rings” line will be a HeroClix miniatures game followed by a HeroClix strategic board game, both of which will release in the back half of 2011.


“The Lord of the Rings” HeroClix miniatures game will be sold in two different packages: a campaign style box set and the traditional booster format. The all-in-one campaign style box set will include everything a player needs, including NEW epic level rules and maps. The booster format includes the figures, similar to other previous HeroClix releases. With whichever format chosen, all of the twenty or more figures will be compatible with other HeroClix miniatures games.

The second release is a unique semi cooperative HeroClix board game, following in the similar format of our other HeroClix board game products. HeroClix figures, a gameboard and several decks of cards provide all the components needed to play this unique take on “The Lord of the Rings” story. The fun twist in the game is that players’ get to play as the Nazgul working with and against other Nazgul trying to capture the One Ring before it reaches Mount Doom.
