Wow, what a week! With most of the office staff returning from Essen in Germany there have been some recent developments we wanted to share with you all.

Schedule Updates: 

Firstly, with so many exciting products due out in the next two months, let's start with some schedule updates:

  • Pathfinder: Beginners 4 pc. Box Set will release on November 16th, 2011

  • Quarriors: Rise of the Demons will release on November 9th, 2011

  • Lord of the Rings HeroClix: 24 ct. Countertop Display and Starter sets will release on November 23rd, 2011

  • Marvel HeroClix: The Incredible Hulk 24 ct. Countertop display will release on November 30th, 2011

  • Mage Knight Board Game will release on December 7th, 2011

  • Marvel HeroClix: The Incredible Hulk Booster set and Fast Forces pack will release on December 14th, 2011


Eagle-eyed viewers will notice the absence of the Star Trek Expeditions: Expansion Pack from the above list.  Unfortunately we were not happy with the quality of the product we received from the vendor, thus we've decided to push back the release of the product to Q1 2012.  Our apologies to everyone on the delay but fear not, Scotty, Sulu, and Chekov will be beaming down to join your Away Team soon enough!

 Infinity Gauntlet

Since the initial announcement earlier this month, close to 800 Venues worldwide have already registered with us for this exciting and unprecedented event!  While we've decided to extend our registration deadline until Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, make  sure your Venue registers today! Stay tuned as we reveal more in the weeks to come, but in the meantime more details can be found on the Infinity Gauntlet website.

A One-Robot Army!

Last but certainly not least, we wanted to share something really special with everyone and we know that this character has long been a fan favorite of many HeroClix players.  While it's s till al little early to share the dial, the sculpt is just so impressive that we just had to share it with you all! Today we are very pleased to announce the exapansion of our Star Trek offerings with the release of Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics!



Star Trek HeroClix: Tactics puts you in command of Federation and Klingon vessels and is 100% compatible with the HeroClix core rules system.  Tactics is intended as a standalone game system and will exist outside of the Modern and Golden Age tournament environments. What this mean is Tactics operates by the same rules and Powers and Abilities card that your standard HeroClix game is played with, but is meant to be played as its own game.

Tactics features more than 20 pre-painted ships from both the Federation and Klingon affiliations and will be available for sale in both a 4-Ship starter product and single figure boosters.  For more details, please refer to our Retailers Downloads section.

NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT COLLECTIBLES ASSOCIATION, WIZKIDS ANNOUNCE HEROCLIX ONLINE


Newark, NJ – June 21, 2011 – Leading licensed collectibles maker and game creator, National Entertainment Collectibles Association (NECA)/WizKids today announced development on the upcoming online game, HeroClix Online. With plans to bring the popular tabletop game to PC, fans and enthusiasts are encouraged to enter the HeroClix Online Paid Beta today.

Since 2002, players of the combat-oriented tabletop game have enjoyed all-out battle with collectible miniatures from several of their favorite licensed media properties. In HeroClix Online, developed in conjunction with North Carolina-based game developer, Icarus Studios, players have the ability to participate in those same matches and tournaments with their favorite HeroClix characters–24/7 on a 3D virtual tabletop with players around the globe.

“Many of our most loyal players are unable to get to the store to play for one reason or another, but still want to play the game they’ve come to know and enjoy on a platform that fits their lifestyle,” said V.P. of Marketing at NECA, Justin Ziran. “Our ultimate goal is to re-engage players that don’t play in stores any longer and cross pollenate the online world and in-store world via achievements and our event locator.”

Through the HeroClix Online Paid Beta, players may take part in the digital version of the game, selecting from maps and figures from HeroClix sets such as the Hammer of Thor set and the Fantastic Four starter set. Using the same rules, miniatures and play mechanics as the tabletop game, participants may join public matches and tournaments with up to 64 players to a single tournament. Special items and prizes are awarded to winning teams.

As the online game continues to develop, new HeroClix expansions including maps and figures will be released later this year.

HeroClix Online, available for PC, is now in Paid Beta and can be downloaded at the Heroclix Online page. As part of the Beta program, all products and rewards that participants earn during their Beta period will transfer to their full account at launch. Additionally, players who sign up for the Beta by July 5 will receive an exclusive Clix at launch.

Today's preview is none other than that most nefarious of villains, a constant foil to the forces of freedom, and an eternal enemy to S.H.I.E.L.D., Baron Strucker!

At 150 points, Baron Strucker is well-suited to lead your hordes of Hydra minions into battle! Early-dial Running Shot allows Strucker to aim his attacks from a vantage point of his choosing, while Mastermind and Leadership lets Strucker get the most out of his followers.  Should an opponent be willing to base him, perhaps in the hopes of cutting him off form his troops, Strucker's Satan Claw special power will make them regret their decision; the Baron will strike his opponent with such force (using Blades/Claws/Fangs) that adjacent friendly figures will feel the effects of the blow as well! An additional benefit is that the Satan Claw special power also allows the use of Energy Explosion, giving Strucker excellent close and ranged combat options.


Mid-dial, Baron Strucker changes tactics and switches to melee, leaping into battle with Charge and regular Blades/Claws/Fangs (demonstrating his penchant for sabre fencing).  Toughness replaces Mastermind while early-dial Outwit takes the place of Strucker's initial Leadership.


Late-dial, Strucker's evil resources are demonstrated by his Death Spore Virus special power, which llows the use of Poison but with a twist! Adjacent opposing figures with a point value of 100 or more (or figures named Nick Fury!) take two clicks of damage instead of the standard one! Strucker's late-dial also allows him to heal back up to his potent mid-dial with Regenerate, or you can simply Pulse Wave your opponents to death!


Baron Strucker is every bit the master manipulator and able warrior, and this figure is no exception.  Lead your Hydra forces to victory and trod over the remains of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the Baron at the forefront of your hordes! HAIL HYDRA!

Today's special bonus preview brings us face to face (yikes!) with Steve Roger's most reviled nemesis, the Red Skull!


The Red Skull has always been one of Captain America's most dangerous adversaries, and the Skull's Captain America's Cloned Body trait demonstrates how far he's willing to go to defeat his hated foe!  A full dial of Leadership is great, a full dial of Leadership and Close Combat Expert? That's even better! (Or worse, depending on which end of the attacks you're on!)

The Red Skull starts with early-dial Charge as he manuevers into position and strikes at your foes! Once he's in position, the Red Skull's Poison power continues to damage opposing figures while Outwit allows the Skull to counter just the right powers at the right moment.

Outwit gives way to the Red Skull's Tactical Genius of the Reich special power which allows him to lower an opposing figure's defense value by -1 if they're within 8 squres and adjcent to two or more figures friendly to the Red Skull.

Toughness eventually gives way to Mastermind as the Red Skull displays his penchant for putting others in harms way to promote his evil schemes.  Mid-dial, the Red Skull utilizes his trademarked Dust of Death and uses Poison both normally and when inflicting damage on chracters less than 100 points (or named Captain America!), the Skull's Dust of Death special power deals 2 damage! Finally, late-dial Regeneration allows the Red Skull to stay in the fight and return to plague Captain America again and again!

It's the start of a new week, and you know what that means! More previews from the upcoming HeroClix release, Captain America! And who better to spotlight than Captain America himself?

Of course, this isn't your father's Captain America! The new Captain America is actually Steve Roger's former partner from WWII, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes! With decades of experience, Captain America rushes into battle with Running Shot as he launches himself into battle.  And if the costume wasn't a dead giveaway, early-dial Perplex and Super Strength defintely set this Cap apart from his former partner!


Captain America's armored costume affords some protection in the form of Toughness, and eventually gives way to Energy Shield/Deflection as he demonstrates a greater aptitude using his shield.


Mid-dial Ranged Combat Expert displays Captain America's dangerous skill with both firearms and thrown weapons (honed by decades of experience fighting as the Winter Soldier), while late-dial  Charge and Close Combat Expert shows just how effective this Captain America is in melee!


At 89 points and with consistent combat values and a great power selection Captain America will be a great addition to your force.

Today's previews take us to the shadowy depths of that morst nefarious of terrorist organizations, Hydra! Dedicated to conquering the planet using a combination of super-science (and at times sorcery!), Hydra is never to be underestimated! Manning the front lines of any conflict, you will find hordes of Hydra Agents!

At first glance, it's easy to dismiss the Hydra Agent but don't let appearances deceive you! Striking form the shadows, the Hydra Agent uses Stealth to conceal his approach.  Team up a few Hydra Agents together in hindering terrain and they can each gain the benefit of the Hydra team ability as they each make ranged combat attacks against their foes.

.

And speaking of ranged combat attacks, if you push your Hydra Agents they gain the use of Energy Explosion which is always handy for damaging multiple opposing figures at a time! Better yet, you don't have to fear pushing (or just using Mastermind to shunt damage onto) your Hydra Agents because their trait, Cut Off One Limb ensures that you will have ample replacements should the worst happen to your Agents.   That's right, when one Hydra Agent falls, another will rise to take its place!

Next up we have one of the many masterminds behind's Hydra's evil schemes, Richard Fisk!

Richard Fisk brings a host of useful powers to your Hydra force! Early-dial Shape Change keeps your opponents on their toes.  Shape Change gives way to Outwit as Richard Fisk demonstrates his tactical acumen for attacking his foe's resources.  Finally late-dial Perplex allows Richard Fisk to add that extra little bit of help where it will do the most good for your force.

That's not all!  Fisk's Supreme Hydra, For Now special power allows you to choose your highest point figure each turn and allow them to use Mastermind.  The selected figure can only send damage to figures with the Hydra keyword, but that's what the Hydra Agents are for! Cut off one limb and two will take their place!

We could think of no one finer to follow up our "Head of H.A.T.E." preview article than someone who is literally and truthfully a head full of hate! It is with great pleasure we unveil a special, bonus preview: the  Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, or M.O.D.O.K.! 


As you can see, M.O.D.O.K. is more than capable of holding his own in a fight!  Wait-what's that? Who let you in here?!

"Silence FOOL! No one may narrate M.O.D.O.K. but M.O.D.O.K. himself!  I am the pinnacle of scientific achievement! My mental powers are second to none! You shall not have this day puny HeroClixer, and you will rue even trying to limit my awesome might in a mere gamepiece! (Albeit a relatively large and rather handsome one at that)

"As you insignificant, unevolved specimens can see, I am more than a match for many so-called "heroes".  My specially designed conveyance allows me to use a Hovering Shot (Running Shot)  and target foes at will, while my Devastating Mental Beam (Penetrating/Psychic Blast)  reduces them to ash! And those betrayers in A.I.M. quake at my uncontested might as The Creation Becomes the Master (Leadership)! 

"Think you're formidable? Bah! Fools! My Mental Control (Outwit) will strip you of your vaunted powers or abilities and I will destroy you!

"And don't even think of trying to harm me, my powers are far too mighty! Do you think you can penetrate my Atomic Force Screen (Impervious) or my Armored Hoverchair (Invulnerability)? Bah! Fools! Nor can you hope to bypass my Mental Scrambler (Energy Shield/Deflection) with your insignificant powers and abilities!

"Should you unevolved thugs attempt to 'get in close' in the hopes of avoiding my awesome mental might, I will destroy you all with my Psychic Bombs!  You contemptuous gnats won't even know what hit you, and you won't be able to trust your eyes when I unleash my Mental Illusions (Perplex) and manipulate your minds!!! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!! 

"Pfah! In the unlikely event you can pull yourselves together enough to actually damage me, my ability to Reconstitute Self Through Sheer Mental Effort (Regenerate) will mock your every effort! Infinite Probability Calculation (Probability Control) means victory for  M.O.D.O.K.! Yes!

"Yield to the inevitable puny ones! You cannot hope to stand against the daunting mental power of M.O.D.O.K.!!! Destroy! Destroy! DESTROY!!!"
